Renovating our properties gave us a deep appreciation of the elegant history that surrounds the beautiful island of Andros. Every detail in the construction, from the materials used to the engineering design, tells a story of the island’s environment, and social composition. We treasured and curated every aspect to the extend it was possible. We also felt it was important to give our guests a glimpse into the traditional craftsmanship that shaped Andros homes and buildings.

During this renovation project, one of our key goals was to preserve the historical essence of the building while modernizing it for future visitors. The walls, the layout, and even the smallest structural elements have been carefully examined to understand their significance. This isn’t just about updating a property, it’s about honoring the history embedded within it.

The stonework, for example, reflects the island’s long-standing tradition of using local materials. The stones were quarried locally, a practice that dates back centuries when Andros was largely self-sufficient. By keeping these original materials intact, we hope to maintain the connection between the property and the island’s rich heritage.

The wooden beams, for instance, speak to a time when cypress was the main source of wood grown locally. Meanwhile, the layout of the building reflects the traditional architectural designs of Cycladic urban homes, with narrow corridors and thick walls that provide both insulation and protection from the elements of nature.

It’s important, that the property remains authentic to Andros, but also offers the amenities that today’s visitors expect.
